Today’s TCRP CD-25 Forum & Straw Poll was a huge success! This afternoon, eight congressional candidates delivered their best stump speech to a crowd more than four hundred strong at the sold-out K-Oaks Clubhouse in Lago Vista. After the speeches were completed, a straw poll was taken. The results of the straw poll are as follows:
Michael Williams: 27.2%
Dave Garrison: 26.8%
Brian Matthews: 19.2%
Wes Riddle: 12.8%
Dianne Costa: 8.4%
Bill Burch: 2.4%
Ralph Pruyn: 2.0%
Chad Wilbanks: 1.2%
In the end, the winner was decided by one vote, illustrating that every vote makes a difference. Congratulations to Michael Williams on his victory today!
TCRP congratulates each and every candidate for their excellent showing today. All candidates demonstrated strong oratorical skill, a passion for conservative principles, and a commitment to creating responsible policy at the Congressional level.
TCRP would also like to thank the North Shore Republican Club, Preston Prunty of Southern Exposure Media Services, our candidate sponsors, elected official sponsors, pianist Reuel Meditz, TCRP volunteers, CD-25 County Chairmen, and event coordinator Mike Dominguez for helping make the CD-25 Forum & Straw Poll a huge success!

The Travis County Republican Party and the North Shore Republicans of Lago Vista are proud to welcome all of the Republican candidates for the newly drawn twenty-fifth congressional district to a candidate forum and straw poll. The event will be held on Sunday, September 25th, at the K-Oaks Clubhouse in Lago Vista, beginning at 3:00 PM (VIP reception begins at 2:30 PM).
The redrawn congressional district includes thirteen counties, stretching from the southernmost parts of Tarrant County to Hays County. Texas’ recent surge in population has created four new congressional seats, making way for fresh faces in our changing political landscape. The Lago Vista forum and straw poll will give voters the opportunity to acquaint themselves with many of these political newcomers as the primary election season approaches.
Anticipating the event, Dr. Rosemary Edwards, chairman of Travis County Republican Party, said: “There is a lot of excitement about the new congressional district creating an open seat for our representation in DC. This forum will showcase all the current candidates and offer our Republicans the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate. The North Shore Republicans are partnering with us to create a fun and informative event. We expect a great turnout at the K-Oaks Clubhouse.”
Individual tickets cost $20 if reserved before September 1st. After that date, individual tickets may be purchased for $25 until September 16th. All tickets may be reserved at www.travisgop.com. For VIP sponsorship, please contact Mike Dominguez by August 26th.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend a prayer gathering called “The Response” in Houston. This event drew thousands of believers to Reliant Stadium on a hot Saturday in August, where concerns about our nation’s significant moral and spiritual decline were on the hearts and minds of everyone present. We prayed for our nation, for ourselves, and for our adversaries.
