Travis GOP officially distances itself from Chairman-elect's rhetoric
Austin Republicans call out Robert Morrow for 'profane or slanderous statements'
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Travis County Republican Party Executive Committee approved a resolution Tuesday night denying any connection to the notorious and offensive statements of its Chairman-elect.
Austin resident Robert Morrow, who won the Chairman's seat on March 1 amid a record-turnout primary election which drew in many voters who had never voted in a recent Republican Primary, is set to take office June 13. Current Chairman James R. Dickey will preside over two elections, four Senate District conventions, and Republican Party of Texas Convention activities before the end of his term.
The text of the resolution is as follows:
Whereas, the Travis County Republican Party does not condone profane slander of Republican former or current elected officials and candidates, and
Whereas, the Travis County Republican Party seeks to raise the level of public debate, and
Therefore, be it resolved, the Travis County Republican Party hereby condemns and disavows all profane or slanderous statements made by newly-elected Travis County Republican Party Chairman Robert Morrow, and
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to all Austin-area media on behalf of Travis County Republicans.
