Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to headline Travis County GOP Summer Bash on night before Special Session begins
AUSTIN – Amid a backdrop about as wild as the Special Session of the Texas Legislature is expected to be, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will headline an event to raise funds for the capital city's county GOP.
The Travis County Republican Party's first-ever Summer Bash is set for Monday, July 17, at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Wildlife Ranch, 11508 Carl Road, in Buda. A VIP Photo Reception is set to begin at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. a catered meal from Bert’s BBQ will commence, accompanied by live music and the evening’s program. This event will take place just hours before the Special Session is scheduled to gavel-in on Tuesday morning, July 18.
"With a special session starting the very next day, and preparations for campaign 2018 already in the works, we felt this was the perfect time to host this one-of-a-kind event," said Matt Mackowiak, Chairman of the Travis GOP. "This is an unparalleled opportunity to not only support the Travis County GOP's full-time staff, headquarters, and campaign year operations, but also to hear first-hand from the Lieutenant Governor as he begins an important effort to approve important conservative reforms in special session of the Texas Legislature."
The event will also feature a special honor for James Dickey, the immediate past chairman of the Travis GOP who is now Republican Party of Texas Chairman.
In addition to Patrick and Dickey, confirmed elected official guests include: Texas Supreme Court Justice John Devine, state Sens. Donna Campbell and Dawn Buckingham, state Rep. Paul Workman, Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty, 3rd Court of Appeals Justice Melissa Goodwin, and 3rd Court of Appeals Justice David Puryear.
The Summer Bash is being chaired by Stacy Hock, and includes sponsors Bud Brigham, Jim Skaggs, Rex and Deb Gore and Eduardo Contreras, among others.
The TDS Exotic Wildlife Ranch affords attendees -- both young and young at heart at this family-friendly event – the opportunity to see numerous, rarely seen exotic animals, including giraffes, tigers, and rhinoceroses. Children's activities are also on the agenda, weather-pending.
Live music will be provided by Dean Seltzer & the Redneck Mothers.
Media requests may be sent to Communications Director Andy Hogue at email@example.com or (512)298-9996. We cannot guarantee availability for exclusive interviews but will do our best to accommodate requests. Advance coverage of the event is welcome.
