Press conference draws wide range of candidates

Candidates for the 2012 Travis County GOP ballot include (left to right, standing) Jim Strickland for Pct. 3 Commissioner, Ryan Downton for State Rep. Dist. 47, Daniel Betts for County Attorney, Diane Costa for CD 25, Barry Smitherman for Railroad Commissioner, Rosemary Edwards for Party Chairman, Mike Varela for Pct. 3 Constable, Al Herrera for Pct. 2 Constable, Vik Vad for Tax Assessor-Collector, and Scott Field for Third Court of Appeals.

Travis County Republican Party announced its list of 12 filed candidates today, and gave other candidates a chance to introduce themselves to the press and to party officials.

See previous blog post for a list of all candidates who have filed with Travis County GOP. A comprehensive list of all candidates appearing on the ballot will appear next week.

In attendance at today's press conferencce were:

Gerald Daugherty, candidate for County Commissioner, Place 3.
Jim Strickland, candidate for County Commissioner, Place 3.
Vik Vad, candidate for Travis County Tax Assessor/Collector
Daniel Betts, candidate for  Travis County Attorney.
Mike Varela, candidate for Travis County Constable, Precinct 3.
Al Herrera, candidate for Travis County Constable, Precinct 2.
Commissioner Barry Smitherman, incumbent for Texas Railroad Commission. Dianne Costa, candidate for CD 25.
Ryan Downton, candidate for HD 47.
Robert Thomas, candidate for HD 48.
Scott Field, candidate for 3rd Court of Appeals.

The deadline for filing has been extended to 6 p.m. Monday. We are excited for our Republican candidates!
