Support the Ballot Book

Posted by Dave Nalle on Aug 17, 2010 in Gallery

The TCRP Ballot Book is one of the most effective ways to get out the word about our candidates and make sure that Republicans, independents and even crossover Democrats turn out to support them in both early voting and on election day.

To make it the powerful tool which it can be we need to get the Ballot Book into the hands of as many voters as possible. We’ve gotten great support from candidates and donors to get the printing done, but now we need to complete our fundraising goals and pay for the mailing to almost 50,000 key primary voters in Travis County. These are the voters who will turn out for our candidates if they have the right motivation, and help us win in November.

You can play a big role in making this happen and in winning a huge victory in November by donating whatever you can. We recommend donating in one of these categories:

House District Leadership Emerges

Posted by mjsamuelson on Jul 22, 2010 in Gallery

This November, victory in Travis County will depend on our volunteers, and most especially our precinct chairmen.

In an effort to streamline communication between precinct chairmen, volunteers, and the campaigns, Chairman Rosemary Edwards recently appointed House District Leaders to help recruit new precinct chairmen, empower our current precinct chairs, and help with the “ground game” in getting out the vote for the Republican ticket this fall.

You can view a list of the House District Leadership by clicking here.

Walk to Win

NOW UPDATED WITH 2010 PRIMARY DATA

Walk to Win is a special database on voters in Travis County designed for use by candidates and campaign workers who want to blockwalk key neighborhoods in their district to contact voters directly.

This is one of the most effective ways to make voters aware of candidates and give them a personal connection to the campaign. Voters who talk to the candidate or talk to a campaign worker are far more likely to turn out to vote and to remember that candidate when they do.

The TCRP strongly encourages all of our candidates to make use of our Walk to Win database to make their campaign more effective.

Austin Legislators Sell Out Texas to EPA Bureaucracy

Posted by mjsamuelson on Jun 29, 2010 in Uncategorized

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 24, 2010

CONTACT: Travis County Republican Party at 512-302-1776 or Dave Nalle, TCRP Communications Director at 512-656-8011

AUSTIN, TX – Big government is coming to Texas and Austin area legislators are putting out the red carpet. Not content to keep their failures confined to the national level, Washington bureaucrats are determined to expand their influence and control within the states. With unfunded mandates and coercive legislation they are working to shift the burden of big government onto state governments like ours which have been responsible and limited their spending and protected their people and businesses as much as possible from the economic downturn.

The latest target of the power-hungry bureaucrats is Texas’ remarkably successful clean air program which has us well ahead of nationwide trends in the reduction of pollutants like ozone and nitrous oxide, and has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 48 other states despite a population which has grown by 1000 people a day since 2000. We have even built more wind power generation capacity than any other state at the same time as creating more new jobs than any other state.

We’ve gotten clean air right and done it without sacrificing jobs or damaginc our economy. Washington ought to be commissioning studies on how other states can be as successful. But instead, activists at the EPA are trying to expand their power at the expense of Texas’ energy industry because we don’t do our paperwork the way they want us to. They have ruled that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s permitting system is in violation of the Clean Air Act because its Flexible Permits Program, which has allowed our energy industry to prosper and create jobs while still having the cleanest air in the nation, is not “consistent” with their bureaucratic requirements.

Attorney General Gregg Abbott and Governor Rick Perry are looking out for the best interests of the people of Texas and have filed a legal action to defend the state’s rights and block this interference with our regulatory practices. Yet four of our Travis County legislators; Dawnna Dukes, Donna Howard, Elliott Naishtat ad Eddie Rodriguez, are not standing up for us. They have signed onto a letter to President Obama applauding the EPA for their actions against Texas. For these legislators the best interests of Texas and the citizens of Travis County come second to their loyalty to the Obama administration and the federal bureaucratic machine which it has already increased in size by more than 30% in just a year.

“Texas already has the cleanest air in the nation,” said TCRP Chair Rosemary Edwards. “The EPA should be coming to us for advice, not trying to meddle in a system which has worked extremely well while also protecting Texas jobs and businesses.” This effort to break down our control over our own environmental regulation is just the first step in expanding the power of the regulatory bureaucracy. Its ultimate goal is the unconstitutional implementation of cap and trade regulations and carbon taxes which will massively increase energy costs for every Texan.

We urge everyone in Travis County who believes that government is best when it is limited, local and taxes us no more than is truly needed, to contact these legislators. Tell them you want them to oppose meddlesome federal bureaucrats who want to expand their power at the expense of Texans and Texas business.

TCRP Ballot Book

Posted by Dave Nalle on Jun 29, 2010 in Gallery

The TCRP Ballot Book is a unique opportunity to introduce your campaign, your issue or your organization to key voters in Travis County. It’s a 16 page magazine-style mailer which will go out to almost 40,000 households who are identified as Republican primary voters in Travis County, a group which includes both core Republicans and key independent voters.

The Ballot Book will include information on the election, the county party and current issues. It will also have space set aside for all of our Travis County candidates, who can reserve a half page of space at a price subsidized by the county party. They can include a photograph and about 300 words of text of their choice about their campaign, their concerns and their plans.

RATES:
Candidate Listing: $500
Interior Page: $2500
Interior Half: $1300
Interior Quarter: $700
Inside Front/Back Cover: $3000
Back Cover (2/3 page): $3500

Advertising space will also be available for local and statewide candidates, businesses and organizations, including featured premium advertising postions on the back cover and the inside front and back covers. These ads will help underwrite the costs of the book.

This will be the most effective way to reach Republican voters in Travis County this election season. The cost for candidates and advertisers is tiny in comparison to the cost of doing even the most modest direct mailing to this many recipients. Just sending out a small postcard would cost over $5000.

You cannot afford not to be part of the 2010 TCRP Ballot Book.
