RUN FOR OFFICE

The filing period for the 2024 Republican Primary is OPEN NOW through Monday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. For more information contact Beth@TravisGOP.com

If you have a clean background, a history of honorable community service, support Republican principles, and have what it takes to win an election, then we urge you consider running as a Republican candidate.

Running for office can seem intimidating if you've never ran before. But as our former candidates can tell you — win or lose — it can be a life-changing and community-building experience. This is where involvement with the Travis GOP really comes in handy: you'll have a community of like-minded Republicans to guide you, encourage you, go door-to-door with you, make calls for you, host community events with, and raise the funds it takes to win.

While we cannot take sides in the Republican Primary (primary voters choose who our candidates will be, not party staff) we encourage Republicans who support our platform principles to file -- especially in races where there is currently no Republican running. (We only make specific endorsements in certain local, non-partisan races.) If you win the Republican Primary, you become our nominee, and you’ll have our full support!

HOW TO FILE FOR LOCAL OFFICE WITHIN TRAVIS COUNTY

Learn more in this helpful guide from the Texas Secretary of State’s office. See our Events calendar for filing period dates and further instructions. For single-county races contact us. Questions: Beth@TravisGOP.com

COUNTY CHAIRMAN CANDIDATES

Candidates for TCRP County and Precinct Chairman please use this form. (Note: If you are going to file for County Chairman, in addition to your application you will be required to obtain the signatures of 10 current TCRP Precinct Chairmen. Use this form to collect signatures.)

CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES

For cities, towns, and MUD boards, please consult your local administration for details. If you run into any hassles give us a call at (512)302-1776. Please note that endorsement of a Republican-voter candidate for city council is not automatic nor is it guaranteed. We may endorse the only Republicans running in local, non-partisan races, but in contested races among multiple Republican voters the Executive Committee will opt whether to make an endorsement. In the bulk of local races, Travis GOP does not endorse.

APPOINTED OFFICES

A great way to build experience before putting your name on a ballot is to seek appointment to a commission or office. The City of Austin and Travis County have many, as does the State of Texas. See below for some opportunities to build your resume!
